What is all the hubbub about Public and Private Clouds?  Are we about to get rained on?
There’s a lot of hype about “Cloud Computing” in the technology market today.  Cloud computing can mean a lot of different things depending on who you talk to.  The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) defines cloud computing as:
“A model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction."
This discussion will cover some of the different things about what cloud computing can mean: server hosted applications, online storage, server and desktop virtualization, application publishing, and simple server processing cycles, and more.
